Rajasthan Royals have signed English batsman Owais Shah to fill the space in their squad created by the retirement of captain Shane Warne.
Warne has stood down having led the Royals to the Indian Premier League title in 2008 and the Royals will become Shah's fourth side, having previously represented the Delhi Daredevils, Kolkata Knight Riders and Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
"We are delighted to have signed on Owais Shah to play for the Rajasthan Royals. He is one of the most exciting batsmen in the world and has been particularly outstanding in the shorter forms of the game," Raghu Iyer, CEO, Jaipur IPL Cricket Pvt Ltd, said.
Shah has played six Tests, 71 One-Day Internationals and 17 Twenty20 Internationals for England and has also played Twenty cricket for Middlesex, Essex, Hobart Hurricanes, Wellington and the Cape Cobras.
He has scored 3,437 runs at an average of 34.71 and a strike-rate of 130.04.
Of his 134 Twenty20 matches, 12 have come in the IPL - five for Kolata, four for Delhi and three for Kochi, with a highest score of 58 not out for Knight Riders.
Shah was without a team following the dissolution of the Kochi team ahead of the fifth season of the IPL.
